Setting the password policy

To set the password policies for this PC, follow the steps in the video.

  1. Type Local Security Policy in the Windows search bar. The Local Security Policy window will appear.
  2. In that window, select the arrow next to Account Policies and click on Password Policy to see these security settings.
  3. Double-click on each policy to change it according to the requirements. If needed, you can use the "Explain."

Creating Local User Accounts

To create new local accounts in Windows, follow the steps in the video.

  1. Go to the Control Panel and select User Accounts. Select Manage another account and then Add a new user in PC settings to add another account.
  2. On the "Create an account for this PC" Window, create and account for each Jill, Roy and Samuel. Make sure you use a secure password that meets the password standards.
  3. Make sure all accounts are not an administrator. The only administrator account should be the one you use to sign-in to this computer.

Setting folder and file permissions

To set file and folder permissions in Windows, follow the steps in the video.

  1. Create a new folder on the desktop by right-clicking anywhere on the desktop and select New > Folder. You may rename the folder if you'd like
  2. With the new folder created, right-click on it and select Give access to. You will then have the option to select the names of the users who should have access. A new window appears asking, "Do you want to share the selected items?" Select Yes, share the items.
  3. To ensure the users have full access to the folder (as opposed to just having read-only access), right-click on the folder and select Properties. Click on the Sharing tab and then the Share… button. From the Window can you "Choose people to share with" and select the appropriate permissions to match the requirements. When you're done with your modifications, click the Share button on the bottom.
